Personalization of learning processes is possible by making use of knowledge mapping as a strategic tool to enhance students' engagement and interest in their own learning processes. Knowledge mapping is defined as the opportunity for students to describe where they are, where s/he would like to be in the knowledge landscape, and identification of knowledge trails, subsequent knowledge hikes and a knowledge relief map of the knowledge terrain.
Dr. Naeve is the head of the Knowledge Management Research Group at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, coordinator of research on interactive learning environments at the Uppsala Learning Lab at Uppsala University, and a senior lecturer at the Department for Computer and Systems Science (DSV) at Stockholm University.
Dr. Marti Cleveland-Innes is Professor and Chair at the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University.
